A TOWN council has awarded funding to several local organisations following a recent meeting.
Representatives from four groups attended Buckfastleigh Town Council’s latest meeting to receive grants.
The Orchard Millennium Green was awarded £500 towards its annual Fun Day and Duck Race, taking place on Sunday, June 28.
Conversation Works CIC received £335 to help fund a custom-built ramp, improving access to the South Devon Railway carriage Memory Café.
And Buckfastleigh Foodbank was awarded £500, which will provide more than 30 emergency food parcels for residents in need.
Councillors also confirmed that the next deadline for smaller grant applications is August 31, with guidance available on the town council’s website.
Elsewhere, members approved the distribution of an information leaflet to all households explaining Local Government Reorganisation.
The changes will see the current two-tier system of Devon County Council and Teignbridge District Council replaced, along with proposed transfers of community assets such as public toilets and green spaces to local councils.
The Town council also hinted at an upcoming announcement in partnership with The Valiant Soldier Museum on a new community project.
