A TEIGNBRIDGE river took pride of place at a recent community event that saw Buckfastleigh come together for its ‘Water Day’.

The free, family-friendly event was organised by Dartmoor National Park and Buckfastleigh Town Council.

Its aim was to raise awareness of the River Darts’ influence on shaping the town, as well as being an opportunity to discuss how best to prepare and adapt for floods.

Taking place at the Millennium Green on Saturday, July 26, there was a history of the River Dart exhibition, educational games, bouncy castle, live music, refreshments and much more besides.

Among those in attended was the town’s fire crew, who were on hand to discuss the town’s ‘Emergency Flood Plan’.

‘It was a great opportunity to have some fun and meet so many cool people’, said a spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Station.
