South West in Bloom judges paid a visit to Bovey Tracey this week.
The town has a strong reputation to uphold, having won gold and silver in previous years.
They toured the town on Monday,, where the places they viewed included wildflower areas at the primary school, Bradley Bends and Le Molay Littry Way, Parke Community Gardens and Mill Marsh Park, the Bell Inn and other spots around the town.
Mayor Cllr Sheila Brooke, said: ‘Once again the South West in Bloom judges came to assess our lovely town.
‘Bovey Tracey Town Council have worked with local businesses, groups and residents as we set our sights high and aim for a Gold Award again this year. We continue to work towards improving the environment by the addition of wildflowers to encourage bees and other pollinators.’
She thanked local businesses for their financial contributions, the town coucnil groundsmen for their constant care and attention, local people who have worked hard on their gardens and Brimley Women’s Institute who organised a pick up litter.
She added: ‘Mill Marsh Park will also be assessed for a Parks Award. If you use the park and would like to get involved in its future development please join our community group – Friends of Mill Marsh Park. A big thank you to everyone who continue to make Bovey Tracey a beautiful place to live.’
The results will be announced later in the year.
