SUE ROBERTS (nee Milton), of Moorview Drive, Teignmouth, writes:
Well, it has taken 34 years but on Saturday, July 4, at Teignmouth Rugby Club, the class of '75' Westlawn Secondary Modern got together for a reunion.
For many of us it was the first time together since leaving school, and pupils and teachers travelled from all over England, Wales and Germany to be here. Absent friends were in our thoughts and in our hearts and I am sure many a glass was raised in their memory.
We wore our name badges with pride (although sticky labels and skin are not a match made in heaven) to be met with 'is that really you?' or 'gosh, you've changed!' and, in some cases, 'you haven't changed at all.'
So a huge thank you goes to you all for coming and helping to make the evening such a resounding success.
Many thanks to Ian Parkes, who generously provided us with our entertainment for the night. Hits from the 70s (resulting in many sore feet, stiff backs, not to mention achy hips) brought back memories of discos in the drama hut (you really had to be there) and, latterly, the Winterbourne Centre.
We were happy to present him with a donation of £255 for the Eastcliff Youth Centre.
But special thanks have to go to Donna, Val, Myra and Jane (who, I think, has found her vocation in life as a detective, having tracked down 75 per cent of us single-handed). Without all their help none of this would have been possible.
So many thanks to you all.
