A HEATHFIELD company has supplied materials for BBC’s DIY SOS programme which is creating a housing community for ex-servicemen.

British Ceramic Tiles has donated a selection of tiles, adhesive and grout for the project being carried out in Manchester being featured in the two-part programme DIY SOS: The Big Build Veterans’ Special.

The tiles were used in the transformation of eight existing houses into two larger adapted residential homes for veterans and their families along with one further home and a specialist veteran support and advice centre.

Caryn Clarke, marketing director at BCT, said: ‘This was a great opportunity for British Ceramic Tile to get involved in such a worthwhile project and give something back to the people who have served our country.

‘We were delighted to supply tiles, as well as adhesive and grout, so that the project could provide ex-servicement with a suitable home that meets their individual requirements following their time in active service.’

The project’s aim was to create a veterans’ housing community within the existing community including an advice centre with space for therapy and counselling provided by Walking With The Wounded.

A further 62 properties in the street will also undergo a facelift with all fronts rendered and new front doors and windows.
