A TEIGNMOUTH businessman is furious after his broken down truck was given a parking ticket.
Peter McGrane was driving an LDV pick-up along the main road through Shaldon when the throttle cable snapped.
'I was stranded right on the busy main road, but managed to push it into a side road.
'It did say there was no waiting, but I rushed to Ashtons Garage just before they closed, and they gave me an A4 size notice to put on the windscreen saying the vehicle had broken down and would be collected the next morning for repair.
'But next day I learned that a parking ticket had been slapped on the truck.
'I am very annoyed because what else could I do? If I had left it on the main road it would have caused traffic congestion.
'I thought that leaving it overnight in a side road was the sensible thing to do because it was not causing an obstruction.
'Somebody obviously did not apply common sense and I will definitely be appealing against this stupidity,' said Mr McGrane, who is the boss of Westpointe Ltd, the Dawlish-based civil engineers.
