Teignmouth residents are to be given the opportunity next week to view ambitious plans for the redevelopment of the Carlton Theatre.
The final design proposals will go on show at the theatre on Wednesday between noon and 8pm.
The public will be able to offer their thoughts before the submission of a planning application.
If the scheme goes ahead the new building will provide a multi-use community facility with space for theatre and the arts, as well the capacity to accommodate a new library for the town.
Teignbridge Council economy and tourism spokesman Cllr David Corney-Walker said: 'The Carlton is one Teignmouth's best loved assets and we're keen to see it fit for the future and providing services that the community wants.
'Local people have helped shape the direction of the redevelopment with their views and ideas so we'd like to provide a public opportunity for people to see the plans ahead of the planning application being submitted.
'We'd like to hear what people have to say about the plans and look forward to helping provide a much improved resource for Teignmouth.'
Cllr Sylvia Russell, district member for Teignmouth East, said: 'This is the next stage of a long awaited plan to expand the facilities of the Carlton to meet the needs and aspirations not only of local residents but the wider community.
'I hope that as many people as possible take the opportunity to look at the proposals and give their views.'
