THE redevelopment of Teignmouth's Carlton Theatre came another step closer on Tuesday when Teignbridge Council agreed to pump more than £2.5 million into the project.

Now the authority is waiting to hear if the remaining £1.75 million will be delivered by the Coastal Communities Funding programme. a decision is expected by the end of the month.

Deputy leader Cllr Stuart Barker, hoping for a positive outcome which should result in a multi-use Carlton Pavilion, said: 'This is when we finally start to make it happen.'
