BBC Radio 1’s Academy continues this month in Exeter, after they went down a storm in Teignbridge.

Tinie Tempah, Jake Bugg and Tom Odell are among the famous faces that will be taking part in the workshops which will be held at Exeter Pheonix.

The first event, which takes place on May 17, will see electronic music duo AlunaGeorge take to the stage before holding a songwriting workshop and jam session.

MC, songwriter and record producer Tinie Tempah will also be there talking to Radio 1’s Clara Amfo about his journey from underground artist to the most successful UK rapper in chart history.

On Wednesday, Tom Odell will be performing live as part of BBC Live Lounge with DJs Scott Mills and Chris Stark on hand with the ultimate guide to making great radio.

Digital stars Niki ’n’ Sammy and Chal will be helping attendees go big on social media with a Q&A hosted by Gemma Cairney.

A BBC Introducing gig will also take place with performances from Muncie Girls, Tourists and Witterquick.

The following day, Laura Mvula will be following in Tom Odell’s footsteps and will be performing in Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

Nick Grimshaw and Clara Amfo will take to the stage to deliver a personal insight into their careers.

The station’s big boss Ben Cooper will also join the discussion and attendees will get the chance to quiz the radio stars on what happens behind the scenes at Radio 1.

Budding entrepreneurs and Dragons’ Den fans will have the chance to learn all about delivering a killer pitch before entering the Den and pitching for real to Dragons Nick Jenkins and Sarah Willingham.

Jake Bugg will be popping along to the academy on Friday, May 20, as he performs in the Live Lounge and teaches the audience how to play the chords of Lightning Bolt.

There will also be a TV and film workshop and Q&A with guests including former Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey and BBC Three star Jodie Comer as well as writers and directors from some of TV’s most well-known shows, and a Game of Thrones camera operator.

On the final day of the academies, Mura Masa will be closing the week of Live Lounges as well as taking part in a careers workshop alongside a host of industry giants.

The closing night will be a live showcase with special guests of Radio 1 making an appearance.
