VINTAGE vehicles, live music and the Big Lunch are but a few of the offerings Teignmouth Town Council (TTC) have planned to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Organised by the Jubilee Committee and supported by local businesses, charities and community groups, the town’s celebrations will span a four day period from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5, with stalls, live music and other forms of entertainment.

A vast array of musical acts will be performing: The Liberty Sisters, The Teign Tunesmiths, Adam Sweet, Back Beach Boyz and many more besides.

TTC have provided a marquee, full sound and PA system, stage, lighting, chairs and tables which community groups to use across the four day Jubilee event.

Teignmouth’s celebrations begin on Thursday, June 2, with an array of activities, including the Town Crier Proclamation at 2pm and multiple musical performances, culminating in the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm.

Moving into Friday, the Liberty Sisters are to take to the stage for two music sets, the first from 2pm to 2.40pm and the second from 3.25pm to 4.05pm.

Alongside these performances, Teignmouth Arts Action Group will be holding a bunting making session from 10am to 4pm.

There will be a market all day on Saturday, June 4, and a display of vintage vehicles from 10am to 4pm, including vintage buses running between Teignmouth and Dawlish from 10.30am to 4pm.

In addition to the above-mentioned festivities, there will be several Punch & Judy shows organised by the Teignmouth Traders.

The Big Lunch, a picnic in the marquee, will take place on Sunday, June 5, from 12 noon to 4.30pm as well as an RNLI open day from 10am to 5pm.

From 10am Thursday to Sunday the Alice Cross Centre, a community centre in the heart of Teignmouth, will be running a series of activities.

Mayor of Teignmouth, Cllr Iain Palmer, said: ‘On behalf of Teignmouth Town Council, I would like to welcome you all to join in on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Anniversary, being held on the Den.

‘I would like to thank the Events Committee for all their hard work in organising this event and for all the support they have received.

‘The past two years has been a challenge, and we have all had a lot to deal with, so now we are hoping that we can all start to enjoy as near to normal life again.

‘The Teignmouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce have dressed the town with flags and sponsored the cream tea on Devon day. I am sure you are going to enjoy yourselves over the weekend of celebrations.’
