WHEN a 101 year-old grandad skydives out of a plane, three of his Teignmouth family will join him.

Verdun Hayes, who lives in Georgeham, North Devon, hopes to break the record for the oldest man to descend 10,000 feet.

The record is currently held by a Canadian who was 101 and three days. Verdun will be 101 and 37 days.

With him will be son, Bryan Hayes, his grandson Roger Hayes the chairman of Teignbridge Trotters, and great grandson Stan Hayes, who all live in Teignmouth.

The jump takes place on May 13 at Dunkeswell, and the four generations also hope to set a world record for the oldest combined age – 241 years.

Last year when he was 100, Verdun became the oldest Brit to tandem skydive, and next year, when he is 102, he wants to wing walk.
