Despite some fine individual performances Teignmouth failed to gel together as a team and paid the price losing this game rather than Okehampton winning it.

The home side had the best of the early chances and Teigns were indebted to keeper Darren Shrubb, who saved well as Okehampton sliced Teigns defence apart.

Adam Fay was hit with an challenge in the tenth minute that the referee deemed fair but left him unable to continue.

Liam Jones replaced Fay and Teigns shuffled their formation, pushing Adam Hill up front.

Terry Breslan twice tested the home keeper and Ashley Webber hit the hosts' defensive wall from a free-kick.

Jones put Hill through but the home keeper pulled off a good stop to keep the scoresheet blank.

Andy Breslan's deep free kick to the far post gave Alex Blackburn a chance, but again Teigns were left to rue their missed chances as Blackburn couldn't stretch far enough to convert his team-mate's pass.

The home side's incisive play cut Teigns apart, but Gavin Breslan showed his quality, patrolling the back line well and sweeping clear any danger.

Both sides had failed to find the net in a rather lacklustre first period, but the second half promised to be more entertaining as Hill broke through but volleyed wide.

Okehampton came into the game and had a free kick on the edge of the area, but Teigns' defensive wall held firm as the ball was driven straight into it.

Ian Wilkinson had two chances in the space of five minutes – the first he drove wide and the second was disallowed for off-side.

Craig Stonelake and Andy Breslan put the effort in in the centre of the park but their drive came to no avail as Teigns could not capture their recent form.

The home side were gifted the winning goal as Teigns were caught out at the back and Marshall tapped into an empty net.

Blackburn moved forward and had two chances to equalise – the home keeper pushing his shot past the post and then saving his diving header.

The home team held out to claim the points, bringing Teignmouth's season to a disappointing close.

In two seasons, manager Adrian Banning has seen his side rise from flirting with relegation to mid-table security.

Geoff Breslan takes over from Banning next season as player manager.
