An area of Teignmouth seafront near the playground has been evacuated after the discovery of what is believed to be an old mortar bomb.

Police have cordoned off the area while bomb disposal officers make their way to the scene, near The Point car park.

A police spokesman said it was believed the ordnance was possibly a world war two mortar bomb.This breaking news story is being updated and more details will be published shortly.
