FINLAKE Health and Leisure Club has been shortlisted in two categories for Regional Gym of the Year and Gym Team of the Year 2015 in the National Fitness Awards.

The gym, which has been running for ten years, has more than 1,100 members and will be undergoing a £12 million redevelopment starting next month.

New plans for the club include three studios, sports hall and a state-of-the-art gym as well as new equipment.

Club manager Michelle Pinnock said: ‘I am entering my team after a tough yet rewarding year. The team are the sole reason we’ve had a net gain of more than 300 new members in just six months.

‘Writing from the heart as well as the mind it was only two weeks ago that three members of the team were involved in an attempted CPR on an elderly gentleman who became unwell, sadly he passed away but the team were commended by senior air crew on how they responded.

‘I would love for the team to have more than a well done from me as they have shown phenomenal commitment to the business, the members and to each other.

‘To be shortlisted in two categories against some of the best gyms and clubs in the country is unbelievable.’

The winners will be announced at the National Fitness Conference at the National Space Centre in Leicester on December 4.
