LIFEGUARDS from Teignmouth Surf Lifesaving Club kept a watchful eye over competitive swimmers last Sunday.

The team was up at 5am and out to Blackpool Sands to provide cover for the Dartmouth Triathlon.

Glen Mayhew, chairman of the club, said: ‘It was a great morning. We took 14 lifeguards to provide safety cover for the 750m-swim part of the triathlon.

‘A lovely morning for a swim – well done to all the 100 participants – and it was a great opportunity to give our lifeguards some experience.’

Glen said the club is booked to provide safety cover at more events around the county over the summer.
