SHOPPERS made a beeline for a new supermarket in Teignmouth.
Schoolchildren from Our Lady & St Patrick’s Catholic Primary in the resort performed the ribbon-cutting honours for Lidl bosses at their Lower Brook Street premises, formerly occupied by Waitrose.
The first 50 people in the waiting queue at 8am were rewarded with a free company logo-decorated hessian bag for their troubles.
Some 40 new jobs have been created by the new store in town.
