A TEIGNMOUTH outlet of national supermarket chain has escaped having its café closed amid a series of closures across the country.

Morrisons announced a major shake-up of its business operations in March.

The supermarket chain said it would be closing several of its cafés, convenience stores, florists, meat counters, fish counters and pharmacies.

Several outlets in Devon were affected, including the Morrisons Daily store in Exeter.

However, Teignmouth’s supermarket is unaffected, and will keep its in-store services and facilities, including its café.

The closures are expected to get underway this month.

Morrisons’ chief executive, Rami Baitiéh, said the changes were ‘a necessary part of our plans to renew and reinvigorate Morrisons and enable us to focus our investment into the areas that customers really value and that can play a full part in our growth.’
