DESPITE appalling weather, Teignmouth gardeners came up trumps again with a proliferation of colourful blooms for the annual Teignmouth in bloom competition.
The organisers and judges were impressed at how the many green-fingered folk still managed to put on good shows, although they were handicapped by monsoon-like conditions and little sunshine.
'The extreme weather conditions leading up to this year's competition were daunting to say the least, and we did not expect to receive as many entries as last year.
'But I am very pleased to say that numbers were up again and included some new faces as well as our faithful regulars,' said coordinator Cllr Sylvia Russell.
'The judge, Roy Halsey, was very impressed with the high standards achieved in every category, and praised the efforts of everyone who worked so hard to produce such superb displays against the odds.'
