Jose Waller of Westwood Road, Ogwell, writes:
I am writing to say how upset I am by the sudden and unannounced withdrawal of the 175 bus service to Reynell Road.
I am 95 years-old and, not having been informed of the loss of the service, I have twice waited for the bus, once in the pouring rain, before having to walk a mile into town.
How am I now supposed to get into town for shopping, doctors, hospital etc? They claim to have replaced the 175 service with a diverted 177 but there is only one afternoon service and even that only runs on schooldays!
Just what are the council trying to do?
They are building lots of new houses – they know the roads can’t cope with the increase in traffic and yet they continually reduce public transport.
The so called bus station in Newton Abbot is also a disgrace – a terrible wind tunnel in cold weather and the buses can’t even get close enough to the kerb to let passengers get on and off safely.
Wheelchair passengers are sometimes left stranded. I hope other people will join me in protesting about how the elderly and disabled, without cars, are treated in this area.
