A GROUP of squatters has taken over a Teignmouth pub only hours after the landlord 'suddenly' quit.
Three men and two women and a dog have set up home in the Lifeboat Inn, the Strand, and insist: 'We intend to be good neighbours and will not cause any trouble.'
They swooped on the pub – at one time one of the most popular in the town – through an 'open skylight window' and changed the locks to prevent the owner, believed to be a pub company, gaining access.
A message explaining the occupation is posted on the door and pirate slogans adorn the front entrance.
But an order for possession is due to be made at Torquay County Court on Tuesday.
