STAFF at the Mid-Devon Advertiser have been delighted with the support for their Macmillan Coffee Morning.
The final total is still being calculated but we estimate we have raised at least £250 for the vital charity which helps people with cancer and their families throughout Teignbridge.
Our staff at our offices in Courtenay Street provided an array of home-made cakes including a yoghurt cake with jam and butter cream, sultana cake, gluten-free brownies, rock cakes, cookies and a host of other sweet treats to be enjoyed by colleagues, guests and readers.
Our raffle prizes included a luxury hamper, generously donated by department store Austins, of two bottles of Chanel No 19 perfume and a men’s Egoiste fragrance.
The second prize was a hand made chocolate heart from a chocolatier in St Marychurch, Torquay.
We also supplied cups of tea, coffee and hot drinks throughout the day, welcoming both regular readers and passersby.
Donations and ticket sales carried on throughout the day.
Mid-Devon Advertiser ewditor Nick Knight said: ‘A huge thank you to everyone who came along to see us and help our fund-raising efforts in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
‘It was brilliant so many of you were able to join us and enjoy our selection of cakes at our offices which opened earlier this year.
‘It’s great to know we have so much support throughout the district.’
First prize in the raffle was won by Madge Darwin, second prize by Sally Henley and third prize Karen Jenks.
Prize winners will be notified.
