AS strong winds batter the area, Newton Abbot’s Police have warned drivers to take care on the roads.

With a Yellow Warning from the Met Office in place for high winds in neighbouring county Somerset, Newton Abbot’s police have put out a warning for drivers in Teignbridge.

On their Facebook page they say ‘If you are out driving today your will notice it’s a bit windy.

‘Our advice is to slow down, anticipate gusts, be aware of large high sided vehicles and keep both hands on the steering wheel.’

The Met Office warning is active until 6pm tonight, Monday, and says: ‘Strong and gusty southwesterly winds may lead to some disruption, particularly for prone high-sided vehicles.’
