A POPULAR group of Teignmouth

songbirds have shared £1,735 between

three charities.

Teignmouth Sings raised the money

from a concert at the former Riviera

Cinema, and it was shared between

Children & Families in Grief, Operation

Imprezza and Mars Hill Church.

The presentation was held during

rehearsals for their next concert on Friday,

July 14 at 7.30pm at the Riviera,

when there will be songs from well

known musicals, pop numbers, jazz

and ballads, with small groups performing

along with the whole choir.

Money raised will go to the charity

SSAFA, which supports members of

the armed forces and their families in

times of need, with a donation to Mars

Hill Church for use of the Riviera.

It will also be a chance for the public

to have a look at the superb auditorium

at the Riviera, which is still

intact.

The choir has grown from 15 members

in 2009 to more than 80 now,

with ages ranging from 20 to 80 year

olds.

During Teignmouth Carnival week,

the choir will be performing in the

marquee on the Sunday, before having

a summer break, and returning to

practice new songs in September.
