RESIDENTS' only parking may be introduced in dozens of congested Teignmouth streets

One of the most radical suggestions is for residents' only zones to combat the increasing numbers of commuters who park all day in residential streets, often making life a misery for those living there.

But it would only be implemented if a strong majority of residents were in favour.

The roads earmarked include the Avenues to the west of the town, Coombe Vale Road, Bitton Avenue, Alexandra Terrace, Landscore Road, Hermosa Road, Yannon Terrace, Gloucester Road, Grove Crescent, the Brimleys, the lower part of Woodway Road, Haldon Avenue, Buckeridge Avenue and Salisbury terrace.

It is one of the major proposals being considered by a working party that has been looking at ways of improving traffic around the edges of the town centre.

The results of two years of work will be presented to the public at the end of next week.
