TEIGNMOUTH'S popular seafront skate park is holding an open day tomorrow.
Since it was opened a year ago, the facility has proved a big hit with young bikers and skateboarders from a wide area.
There will be lots on offer tomorrow, from 11am to 2pm, including maintenance tips by Wood & Waves, of Teignmouth, on skateboards, and by the Green Machine from Kingsteignton on bikes; security marking of equipment by police community support officers, and taster sessions by experienced skaters and bikers for novices who might want to try out the sport for the first time.
Andy Smith, chairman of Teignskate Ltd, which runs the facility, said the skate park was well used all the year round, adding: 'With so many young and not so young using it, we thought it would be a good idea to organise an event to help the users get more from the park.'
There will be no charge for any of the activities.
PCSO Liz Francis thanked outgoing mayor Cllr Ian Parkes for providing the funding for the security marking kits.
Teignskate is also considering a weekly training sessions for beginners and want to stage a second autumn skate competition, after last year's successful event.
