SEA Scouts are jubilant at receiving planning approval for a new home of their own at Shaldon Ness, and have now started the long haul to raise thousands of pounds to pay for it all.

Outline permission has been given by Teignbridge Council, and a detailed plan is being put together by the River Teign Sea Scouts 1st Shaldon. The building is expected to cost around £80,000.

Benedict Miles, from the group, said it only formed five years ago, but was now one of the most popular youth groups in the district, with more than 85 youngsters aged between six and 14, comprising beavers, cubs and scouts, and about 30 leaders and helpers.
