THE latest exhibition from TAAG at the Beachcomber in Teignmouth has the title Land, Sea and Moor so when approached by the parents of 14-year-old Savannah Birkett to ask how she could display and sell some of her art work it seemed the ideal opportunity.

Savannah is in year 9 at school and hoping to join a Camps International trip to Tanzania to help change the lives of vulnerable children there by giving them access to clean water, food, education and a safe place to be.

Fortunately, we were able to find space and she is exhibiting a lovely range of pebble art cards and pictures made from pebbles she collected from locally, the sale of which will help her pay for the self funded venture.

She will be directly involved in projects such as building seated desks for school children who would otherwise be sat on the floor to learn, helping with building classrooms and installing fresh drinking water.

The trip will also see her helping animals and the environment by digging elephant watering holes and ways of reducing elephant poaching.

TAAG are delighted to be able to help in some small way and hope that we can spread the word so that her efforts can be fruitful.

The exhibition runs until Friday, July 8, at the Beachcomber on the Sea front and is open daily between 10am and 4pm and contains some vibrant and exciting work from over 20 local artists.

Savannah’s  work will stay on longer and can also be found on Facebook at ‘SavB Designs’.

TAAG will be at the Beachcomber until late September this year with a series exhibitions from a variety of artists so it is always worth dropping in.

Work continues with the refurbishment at the main TAAG building in Northumberland Place to provide a bigger and better centre for the future.

The TAAG website at www.teignmoutharts.org will carry details of all the exhibitions.

GOOD NEWS:

TAAG will be staying at the Beachcomber a bit longer as our lease has been extended until September.
