THE big joint Queen's Diamond jubilee and Olympic celebrations on Teignmouth seafront are threatened by complaints from residents.

A few living at the Royal Court retirement flats are opposing an application by the town council for a permanent music, drink and general entertainment licence for the Den.

They fear it will cause more noise, disruption and rowdyism, and if they win, the three-week programme of fun with a host of live bands, which has taken months to organise, will be cancelled.

The vital meeting to apply for the licence is on May 18 at Teignbridge Council and the knees-up is due to begin the next day.

The Olympic torch will cross Shaldon Bridge on Sunday
