what a way to travel to school!

The Edworthy sisters row across the Teign estuary from their Teignmouth home to Shaldon Primary School on a lovely September morning.

Charlotte, five, and Jessica, eight, come from a well known nautical family and have been on the water since an early age.

Dad Paul has been rowing them across the river, but now feels they are competent enough to row themselves, although he stays in the boat to keep a eye on them.

'They love it, and it beats going by car or walking,' he said.

'They have all the safety equipment and we only do it when the weather is right, but there is no reason they cannot continue rowing in the winter on occasions.'
