Rowrcroft Hospice is inviting people to ‘Light up a Life’ this Christmas, to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died.

The charity is holding a number of celebrations in churches, including Newton Abbot The Avenue Methodist Church and URC Church on Tuesday December 5, at 7pm; Bovey Tracey Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Thomas of Canterbury on Thursday December 7 at 7:30pm; and Teignmouth’s St Michaels Church on Saturday 9th December 9 at 3pm.

The celebrations are a short service including readings and carols. The ‘Book of Light’ will be at each of these celebrations, containing the dedications made to loved ones to the charity last month.

Daniela Hopkins, of Rowcroft, said: ‘For many, Christmas is a season of joy and excitement but it’s also a time for people to remember, reflect and look to the future.

‘“Light up a Life” invites people to honour the lives of those they dearly miss while making a donation to Rowcroft, helping to support thousands of local people and families living with life-limiting illnesses.

‘People can dedicate a light to someone they love on Rowcroft’s Tree of Light, situated in the hospice’s grounds, and remember a loved one in Rowcroft’s Book of Light, which can be viewed online and in a number of local venues and churches.’
