A MAJOR row has broken out over a Tory pamphlet involving one of the candidates in next week's local council elections.
In her publicity leaflet, Jacqui Orme, who is standing as a Conservative in the central ward, has used an old photo showing her with the mayor, who is one of her main opponents in the ward, along with a prominent trader and the lead singer in a top local band.
They are annoyed, claiming it could be implied they are supporting her campaign, and have issued strenuous disclaimers.
And businesswoman Ms Orme is also in trouble with the Teignmouth Traders' Association, who are not happy they have been mentioned in the pamphlet, and she has resigned as the vice-chairman.
Cllr Parkes, a Lib-Dem, who is fighting to retain his district and town council ward seat, is furious, and is seeking legal advice; demanding the offending document is withdrawn, and an apology issued.
He said he was 'quite frankly bemused by the use of my photograph'.
