MOTORISTS battled traffic chaos for several

days travelling around Newton Abbot’s

Penn Inn roundabout after contractors severed

a communications cable.

Residents living in Buckland

reported that at certain times it

took up to an hour to get off the

estate while the traffic lights

were affected.

Drivers coming into the

roundabout from Torquay along

the St Marychurch Road were

backed up for more than two miles,

stuck waiting to turn on to Shaldon

Road.
