THE closure of a main road with no apparent diversion signs caused chaos and confusion between Teignmouth and Dawlish on Wednesday evening.The A379 was closed without much warning near John Nash Drive, Dawlish, for roadworks and motorists took to the back roads and lanes in both directions.Heavy traffic moved up and down Holcombe Down Road and Holcombe village to try to bypass the closure, and it led to snarl-ups and frayed tempers.
