TEIGNMOUTH has rallied around to support six foreign seamen stranded in the port when their cargo ship was 'arrested'.
The crew of the Oak claimed they had not been paid for two months, and appear to be the innocent victims of a complicated high level legal wrangle over the ownership of the shipping company, and also involving a bank.
The coaster was impounded by the Admiralty Marshall on Sunday after discharging her cargo of soya, and cannot leave until the dispute has been resolved by the High Court in London.
The six have been supported by the Apostleship of the Sea, a charitable mission that looks after the welfare of seamen, and volunteers have provided them with phone cards so they can contact their families at homes around the world.
