THE search and rescue team from Ashburton took part in the successful search for a vulnerable youth in Haldon Forest.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Ashburton (DSRTA) were called to help in the search for a 15-year-old boy with learning difficulties and other medical issues.

He was lost in the Haldon Forest Park on Thursday afternoon.

On their website DSRTA reports: ‘The police were concerned for his welfare as he had been missing for several hours in the woods, the temperature was dropping, it was foggy and it had also been raining heavily since the morning.

‘One of our search dogs, their handler and a navigator were deployed and other members were preparing to deploy when the individual was found.

‘On assessment by our Casualty Carers he was found to be cold and wet but otherwise unharmed.’
