TEIGNBRIDGE District Council (TDC) is set to install a new water main that supplies toilets at a Newton Abbot park.

The upgrade to the public toilets at Courtenay Park comes after a recent leak highlighted the poor condition of the existing pipe, the council says.

Work will start on Monday, September 8 and will take up to four days.

The water main will be installed by 'moling' the new pipe underground; moling is where a small boring machine cuts a tunnel underground and the new pipe is fed in after it.

On the last day of the works, potentially September 10 or 11, the toilets will need to be closed to make the new connection to the toilets.

‘We apologise for any disruption while the toilets are closed for these essential works’, says a spokesperson for TDC.
