TEIGNMOUTH'S many potholes must be filled by Easter, a councillor is demanding.

Main and side roads are strewn with holes, a relic from the wet winter, and county cllr Richard Younger-Ross has called on his own authority to take action.

He urged officers at a Teignbridge Highways and Traffic Orders Committee at Newton Abbot to ensure that the town centre roads at least are repaired before the start of the holiday season.

'The county must prioritise repairs in our seaside resorts before tourists arrive for Easter,' he said.

'Devon's economy relies in part on the holiday industry and on visitors returning year after year.

'They will be less likely to come back if their car suspension or wheels have been damaged or they have tripped on the great big potholes in our town centres.
