Dr ELIZABETH ALBOROUGH GP, of Dawlish, writes:

I was lucky enough to attend both of Muse's concerts last weekend in Teignmouth.

On Friday I had secured tickets for my family and myself. On Saturday evening we watched the concert from outside my aunt's flat at Royal Court on the Den.

Muse put on an incredible show, clearly emotional at their long overdue homecoming.

The organisation of the event was similarly spectacular considering the short timescale. The Den made a wonderful location for such a concert.

I hope that the positive experiences had by fans and locals alike will ensure future events can be held on the Den!

STEVE JENKINSON, of Teignmouth, writes:

How fantastic was last weekend.

I would like to thank everybody involved in the concerts, the organisation was first class.

I think that a very special thanks should go, first of all, to Muse for coming home to do this gig and also for donating any profits back into the town.

But someone who we all tend to forget is the staff of Teignbridge Council and especially Tracy Higgs and her team from the Economic Development and Tourism Department.

It would be nice to thank the town council for its part in all that went on.

The only thing left for me to say is when are we doing it again?

Cllr Sylvia Russell, of Den Crescent, Teignmouth, chairman of Teignbrige Council, writes:

May I express my delight and appreciation for the wonderful weekend we have just enjoyed on the Den in Teignmouth when Muse came home to give us such a memorable concert.

The whole experience has been a turning point for the town and has shown us just what can be achieved by everyone pulling together.

I would particularly like to express my thanks to Teignbridge District Council officials who have experienced a roller coaster ride getting through the many official hurdles involved in the planning of such a major event in such a short time.

Hats off to the promoter SJM Concerts for its superb efficiency, our police, highways and emergency services, and our council workers on the ground throughout the weekend.

Bouquets must also go to the townspeople and businesses for their patience and forebearance during the unavoidable disruption.

Finally, special thanks to the thousands of magnificent fans, young and old, who roared their delight to the boys on the stage to say well done and thanks a million!

Christina McDowall, of Frobisher Close, Teignmouth, writes:

Thanks to Muse, we've had a fabulously successful practice run – everything ran very smoothly and Teignmouth has been well and truly put back on the map.

So who shall we get for next year?!

Mary Miles, of Gloucester Road, Teignmouth, writes:

Muse were great!

As a lifetime Teignmouth resident, I want to express my thanks and appreciation for the superb organisation of the Muse concerts on the Den.

Despite many concerns being raised by townspeople (quite legitimately, as nothing like this has ever been tried before) the whole thing went off with hardly a hitch.

To see so many people – mostly young but a good number not so young – thoroughly enjoying themselves with enthusiasm, good humour and patience was a real tonic. My son went to the Friday night gig and says he has never enjoyed a better show.

As a home carer, I was working on Friday night and needed to drive into and around town but I had no problem getting around by car or on foot because the marshals were unfailingly courteous and helpful.

There was a good deal of litter left in and around the Den during the evening but by the time I went into town again on Saturday morning everywhere was spotless.

I don't doubt this was down to the Teignbridge Blitz Team as well as the SJM organisers; congratulations to both.

I made a point of speaking to one of the security staff on Saturday morning and asked him to pass my thanks on to the management. He shocked me by saying that he had been approached by several other residents that morning, all of who had complained about the traffic congestion, the noise, the litter, whatever.

My praise and thanks came as a big surprise and relief!

All I can say is that some people must have very sad lives if they can't put up with a little inconvenience for three days for the chance for our town to shine as never before. It was a fantastic event and everyone involved deserves our thanks and congratulations – especially Muse themselves for giving their home town such a boost.

P WARREN, of Barnpark Road, Teignmouth, writes:

Thank you, Muse, for a fantastic two days. Teignmouth was buzzing, the town came alive. It was great to see so many people of all ages enjoying themselves and I must say the organisation of the whole event was first class.

Come back again Muse, but don't leave it too long – at 63 my rocking days could be numbered!

Pat Lewis, of Pine Close, Teignmouth, writes:

Thank you for the music and for bringing it to us.

What a wonderful atmosphere there has been in Teignmouth over the last week or so and especially at the weekend. Muse brought pleasure to so many people of all ages, residents and visitors alike.

Local businesses have prospered and will probably reap further rewards as the town has now become more widely known to both a national and international audience and especially to younger people.

So, well done to Muse and to Teignbridge Council for enabling them to stage the concert.
