THE Red Arrows will be soaring over Teignmouth this Summer.

The volunteer committee behind the Airshow say they are excited that they have been successful in getting the Red Arrows to display on Saturday, July 2, along Teignmouth Seafront.

Amy Furlong, events director, said: ‘Volunteers at Teignmouth Airshow have been working hard in the background to bring the 2022 Airshow to Teignmouth this summer after covid restrictions prevented plans from taking place in 2020 and 2021.’

Volunteer chairman, Dave Matthews, said: ‘It’s been a dream of the committee to bring the Red Arrows to Teignmouth, they are a world renowned display team and put on a fantastic show for the spectators, we really hope it will bring visitors to our wonderful town’. 

He said Teignmouth Airshow is the largest free to attend event in Teignbridge and is unique in the fact it is organised and fundraised for by a team of local volunteers.

Due to the economic climate and previous covid restrictions sponsorship has been hard to obtain.

The Red Arrows cost in the region of £15,000, this is without all the infrastructure costs holding an Airshow brings.

Volunteer finance director, David Cook highlights that there are ‘additional costs for toilets, security, crowd safety barriers, speakers, staging, insurance, first aid, waste removal and flight director fees making the event almost £90,000 to put on’. 

The committee is asking the public to show their support for the event by donating, to help them raise the funds to bring the Red Arrows to Teignmouth. 

Amy Furlong urged people ‘to get behind the event and be part of history in helping to secure Teignmouth Airshow as an annual event for the town, having the Red Arrows display will bring a great number of visitors to the town.’
