THE annual meeting of Kingsteington’s Royal British Legion was a cause for celebration as the fundraising total was revealed.
£9,200 – that was the final amount raised for this year’s poppy appeal and members of Kingsteignton’s branch of the Royal British Legion could not be more chuffed.
In light of this achievement the club would like to extend a huge thank you to all who contributed to this figure as well as all those involved with the club’s annual Christmas prize draw – including the Christmas meat draw.
The figure was unveiled at the club’s annual meeting which was held on November 24 and, alongside the poppy appeal fundraiser, saw the club’s committee elections take place.
The results from the election was: Hellen Church as chairman and Poppy Appeal organiser, Roger Keys as treasurer and membership secretary, Natalie Parkins as secretary and deputy Poppy Appeal organiser, Dai Orton as standard bearer and committee member, Rebecca Osborn as deputy Poppy Appeal organiser and committee member and finally both Shirley Linnell and Joan Gillson as committee members.
The next club committee meeting is on January 13.
Anyone wishing to add to the agenda can do so by contacting one of the secretaries – in good time of course.
Crazy Bingo is to held on January 1 from 2pm with a range of cash prizes up for grabs.
January 15 at 7pm will see a pairs skittles competition.
Musical theme tunes sung by Georgia Parnell are set to entertain on January 29 at 7pm.
It should also be noted that walking football has moved to Tuesday evenings from 6.15pm at Teign School.
Zumba will now to be held every Tuesday from 5pm to 6pm at the club and the golf society will meet on the first Sunday of the month.
Members of the Kingsteignton Royal British Legion are looking forward to welcoming back everyone in 2022 and so they would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and to make sure to stay safe during these troubled times.
