A rare 16th century Bible which could be worth £10,000 has been discovered at St James' Church, Teignmouth.
The Bishop's Bible, one of just 70 believed to have been printed, was discovered during a clear out and could have ended up in a skip.
Instead it has now been restored and could go on display in the town's museum.
The mystery of exactly when it was published and how it ended up in the port is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
The find was made by church reader Arthur Brooks (pictured right) whose first reaction was to think the historic tome was little more than junk.
