NATIONAL park rangers are appealing for information after piles of rubbish were found strewn across some of the most beautiful and popular parts of the moor this week.

The garbage, consisting of mattresses, bed frames and other detritus, was found in the car parks of Haytor and Saddle Tor

A spokesperson for the Dartmoor National Park Authority, said: ‘Fly tipping is a criminal offence and is not only harmful to the environment and wildlife but also to the grazing livestock.

‘The Ranger team worked with the Police and Highways Agency to clear the rubbish and will be working with the Environment Agency and Police to investigate further.

‘If you have any information about the rubbish that was dumped on Dartmoor please use the 101 phone number to contact the Police using the log 3/9/23/246.’
