A NEW fish quay, railway works along the iconic open coast line, sand movements, Shaldon Bridge and wildlife drone footage, are a few topics to be covered at this year’s Teign Estuary and Coastal Partnership’s annual forum.
This free public event is being held in the new Pavilions Teignmouth, on Monday, March 21, at 7pm.
The partnership, led by Teignbridge Council, coordinates the management of the estuary and open coast with other statutory agencies, including Teignmouth Harbour Commission, the Environment Agency, Natural England, Associated British Ports and Devon County Council, as well as around 100 local organisations.
Teignmouth harbourmaster Cmdr David Vaughan, the partnership chairman, said: ‘We look forward to the annual forum because it invites a wide audience to find out more, and help play a role in the management of this charismatic estuary and coastal area.
‘These are challenging times and by working together we can try and make the most of the coastline which is one of our key natural and economic resources.
‘The range of projects is phenomenal, ranging from dog bags costing a penny to hundreds of millions of pounds of investment in rail infrastructure there really is all of coastal life on show locally.’
Cllr Humphrey Clemens, Teignbridge Council executive member with responsibility for coastal services, added: ‘As hosts, we love to see the energy and commitment of more 100 different local groups and other interested individuals working together for the benefit of everyone.
‘The event is also the first large scale public engagement event at the new Pavilions venue’
Tickets are free, but need to be booked in advance on 01626 215479 or email: coastal@ teignbridge.gov.uk.
