BISHOPSTEIGNTON will be buzzing with activity on Sunday as the village hosts a fundraising garage sale and two artists open their studios.

The garage sale, in aid of Bishopsteignton School, runs from 10am until 3pm and the studios from 11am to 6pm.

The garage enterprise involves villagers opening up their garages and gardens to sell items they no longer need.

Maps will be available from the school and there will be a collection point in Church Road.

Red balloons will guide bargain-hunters around the participating houses.

Dave Killoran, headteacher of Bishopsteignton School, said of the sale: ‘We are privileged to have so much support from the community. As an expanding school which is committed to achieving the very best for our students, we appreciate all the fundraising and support we receive. It means we can invest in resources to further enhance the educational outcomes for the pupils at our school.

Both artist venues will be supporting the garage sale.

Refreshments will be available in the school grounds and at the artists’ studios.

The artist venues are The Garden Gallery at Cockhaven House, 6 Cockhaven Road TQ14 9RF, where Vicki Gardner and Gill Greatorex will be exhibiting an eclectic mix of twinkly artefacts, textiles, sculpture, photography, papercuts, paintings and powerful local images.

They are joined by Ken Irvin, who will be exhibiting paintings and drawings at Humara, Berry Hill, TQ14 9SY.

His subjects include landscapes and portraits.

Gill Greatorex said: ‘This is a rare opportunity to peek inside the artists’ colourful studios and see how the creative process works.’
