Her Majesty may only be a life size laminated figure. But the image is so realistic hundreds of drinkers have had their pictures taken beside her, writes TED HYNDS.

And traffic around the picturesque Cockwood harbour has ground to a halt as drivers stop to gawp in amazement.

At the 400 year old Anchor Inn - once a favourite smugglers haunt - deputy manager Matt Goldsworthy said: ‘It’s been manic since we positioned the “Queen” outside the front door.

‘Almost everybody who comes in stops to take selfies with Her Maj and traffic snarls up as drivers stop for a better look. They can’t believe their eyes.

‘Even though it’s a flat surface it really is so lifelike it gives a three dimensional effect.

‘It was the owner’s idea to celebrate the Jubilee with loads of bunting and photos from her seventy years on the throne. It works a treat.’

Lucy Brockwell, who supervises the pub’s busy waitress staff added: ‘Locals and visitors alike love it. I was asked to take a picture of an elderly lady over from Canada to visit her niece

‘They were driving past and just had to stop to have their picture taken with the Queen.

‘This lovely little old lady said it was the highlight of her trip. She couldn’t wait to get back to Vancouver to show her friends.’
