CHARITY collectors at Teignmouth were left speechless when a passerby gave them a £2,000 donation.

They were collecting for a foodbank when a trader handed over a cheque, reducing one volunteer to tears of joy.

'The gesture came completely out of the blue and we just could not believe the generosity of this man, who has supported us in the past,' said Cllr David Cox, chairman of Homeless in Teignbridge Support.

'It left us all speechless and also stunned supermarket staff who were helping us.<
