THE project to improve the A382 in Newton Abbot is ‘gathering momentum’, Devon County Council (DCC) has said.
Preparations at Forches Cross will soon be underway, in conjunction with the ongoing work at Jetty Marsh, the council said in its latest newsletter.
Progress has been made on the new roundabout, including the installation of kerbing, as well as new chambers on Exeter Road, which were installed by BT.
The wall alongside Exeter Road is being rebuilt, both the road and footway being prepared for resurfacing next month.
The foundation to tie the new link road to the A382 is in place.
Over at Forches Cross, trial holes are being dug to confirm connection points for service diversions.
But there is still plenty to do, including the following:
• Vegetation clearance in areas that were not previously accessible;
• Trial holes to confirm connection points for service diversions;
• Fibre optic diversion at Stover School;
• High Voltage Electric overhead diversion at Stover School;
• Accommodation works to create access for neighbouring landowners to allow main works to start;
• Temporary traffic lights will be used in targeted locations between Hunters Moon and Forches Cross over the next few months, allowing as much work to be completed as possible prior to Forches Cross being closed.
