A FILM show about Teignmouth past and present was so popular last autumn, it is being repeated.

Local historian and Post columnist Viv Wilson (pictured) is presenting her Pride of Teignmouth at the Pavilions on Saturday, May 5.

And this time some of the people involved in the town’s community life, have been invited as guests as a thank you, including the mayor and mayoress Paul and Nicky Burgess.

The programme covers more than 20 topics, and its main theme is the town itself, the community commitment of local people, and the unique achievements of some of the young people in the past.

Topics will include C&S Leatherworks, boat building and fishing, forgotten heroes, and an intense look-back at lost features.

‘It will be a combined eye-opener of appreciation of the strong tradition of voluntary input and a fond look at a stream of the town’s life-blood,’ said Viv.

‘Teignmouth means the world to untold numbers of people, and this is a chance for us to gather together to share in its unique aspects, and remind one another of what we are striving for and trying to protect. It will feature the things that have taken place here in the past, as well as valuing the present day, and all it means to those of us who are lucky enough to live and work here.

‘I have invited the mayor to boost the coffers of his nominated charities by having a bucket collection at the exit,’ said Viv.
