PRIME Minister Theresa May has branded Newton Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris’ racist outburst as ‘completely unacceptable’ and has withdrawn the whip from her.

The Tory MP has been urged to give up her seat after a recording emerged today of Ms Morris describing the UK leaving the EU without a deal as a ‘real n****r in the woodpile.’

Ms Morris, a strong Brexiteer, has since issued an unreserved apology but many senior politicians from all parties have slammed her use of language.

Removing the whip from Ms Morris means she has been suspended from the Conservative Party.

Theresa May said: ‘I was shocked to hear of these remarks, which are completely unacceptable.

‘I immediately asked the chief whip to suspend the party whip.

‘Language like this has absolutely no place in politics or in today’s society.’

Lib Dem leader Tim Farron is among those who have criticised the MP’s comments.

He said: ‘I am utterly shocked that this person represents the good people of Newton Abbot.’

Marie Chadwick, who contested Ms Morris’ seat in last month’s General Election, feels having the whip removed just isn’t enough, and is calling on Ms Morris to resign her seat.
