THE A380 northbound was closed yesterday evening, following a serious crash near Newton Abbot involving a motorbike.

The accident was first reported shortly after 8pm and remained closed late into the evening.

The accident caused serious injuries to a man in his 20's.

This morning, the Police stated: 'Police were called at around 8:45pm on Wednesday 12 July, following reports of a collision having occurred on the northbound carriageway of the A380 between Ware Barton and Eagle Farm.

'The collision involved a VW transporter van and a Suzuki motorcycle.

'The motorcyclist who is a man in his 20’s from the Mid-Devon area, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital with arm and leg injuries that are believed to be serious.

'Police would like to thank the members of public at the scene who helped with first aid and their patience whilst the road was closed for several hours for a collision investigation.
